Summaries

1.The Monkey King Havoc in Imperial Stables

When the emperor of Heaven hearthat the Monkey King has removed a very

rare metal from the bottom of the river of the Milk Way, he decides to

summon the Monkey King and tries to trick him by putting him In charge of

the imperal horses. At first the Monkey King is thrilled to have a postin heaven,

But then he gets into inspects the stables, When the Mokey King learns the truth

of why he is in heaven. He gets into agreat and createsa havoc at the imperial horse stables.

2.Telling the Flowers’ Names

After her father breaks her engagement to Li Zhonglang, Miss Huang Guiying becomes depressed. In order to cheer up her mistress, the maid, Meiying brings Huang Guiying to the garden to view the flowers. As the walk through the garden, she describes, with both song and dance, the beautiful flowers that can be found there throughout the twelve months of the years. In this way she succeeds in lifting her mistress’s spirits.

3.THE CROSSROADS: Fighting in the Dark

Sung dynasty general Jian Zan, has been unjustly convicted andsentenced to exile. A young officer named Ren Tanghui is secretly ordered to follow and protect him. They arrive at an inn at the junction of three roads. The innkeeper mistakenly thinks that Ren Ta ghui is involved I the plot to harm Jiao. After Ren has fallen asleep, the innkeeper stealthily enters the room in the dark. His growing noise awakens Ren and a fierce struggle ensues. The confusion increases until Jian Zan enters with a light and the whole misunderstanding is cleared up. This is a rollicking, joyous piece of drama, based on an ancient Chinese folktale and features scintillating martial arts and acrobatics

4.THE LEGEND OF THE WHITE SNAKE；Water Overflows Mt. Jin

According the famous Chinese mythic love story The White Snake, the kind and lovely snake spirit – Bai Suzhen – and Xiao Qing, a black snake spirit, travel to Hangzhou to amuse themselves. During a rainstorm, Bai Suzhen meets a young man, Xu Xian, who allows Miss Bai to share his small boat. It is love at first sight. Soon after the two marry and begin a blissful life together. Unfortunately, the abbot of Mt. Jin Temple, Fahai, plots to destroy this union; and he encourages Xu Xian to give his wife a draught of potent alcohol, which, after drunk, causes Bai Suzhen to reveal her true snake-spirit form. Seeing her in this light, her husband is frightened to death. In order to revive her husband, Bai Suzhen risks death to seek magical herbs on Immortal Mountain. From these herbs she concocts medicine that brings her husband back to health. But, Fahai succeeds in seducing to Xu Xian to make a visit to Mt. Jin Temple. Once there, Fahai makes him prisoner. Bai Suzhen and Xiao Qing travel by boat to the temple to entreat Fahai to release Xu Xian. Fahai tries to use the Black Dragon’s wand to quell Bai Suzhen, but Bai Suzhen uses her magical powers to command a flood to engulf Mt. Jin. A fierce battle between the creatures of the see and the armies of Heaven ensues. In the end, because she is pregnant and has not the strength to continue the battle, Bai Suzhen must retreat in defeat.
